At the multipurpose hall of the school, the Pacific Schools community assembled on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, for an amazing valedictory service. It was a time when the efforts, commitment, and success of the graduands were warmly celebrated with appreciation from family, teachers, and friends.
The graduation ceremony kicked off when the graduands, led by members of the Divisional Boys Scout team, made a grand entrance into the hall. All present erupted into a round of applause and pride as they made their procession to give the day its sombre tone.
The atmosphere was even further taken to greater heights by the praise and worship session. Parents, staff, and students danced and sang unrestrainedly, their hearts full of praise and joy on having been able to cross such a landmark.
The Principal of Pacific Comprehensive College, Mrs. Chioma Ogunsola, in her welcome address, showed deep appreciation to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr. Omosowon Idowu Remigious, for his immense support and encouragement. She pinpointed integrity as one of the most important values of the school, going ahead to emphasize how the institution had always preached success through hard work, never by short cuts. This, among other precepts, she said, had been deeply installed in the hearts of the students. She also acknowledged the graduands, many of whom had been in the care of the Pacific Schools family since nursery school days. She reminded them that the invaluable lessons acquired within the walls of Pacific Comprehensive College would stand them in good stead in the years to come.

Life will throw challenges at you,” she said, “but it is how you respond to the opportunities, the time, and the challenges that life presents that will ultimately shape your destination.” She urged the students to embrace courage, face obstacles head-on, and never take failure as an option. The Headteacher of the Nursery and Primary School resonated with these sentiments in her address, warmly welcoming the audience and congratulating the youngest graduands on their remarkable achievements. Her words brimmed with encouragement, urging the pupils to carry forth the values they had learned as they embarked on the next stage of their education.
The event was marked with a motivational speech delivered by the guest speaker, Omooba (Barr.) Taiwo Gbenga Owokalade.
His speech entitled “The Power to Dream” proved both inspiring and evocative. Drawing on the wisdom of some of the world’s great leaders like Eleanor Roosevelt, Peter Drucker, Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and Martin Luther King Jr., he underlined the role of dreams, the surmounting of defeat, and ongoing movement.
The audience, especially the prospective graduates, found solace and inspiration in his candid sharing of personal experiences and life lessons, as they prepared to navigate their own paths.
Next up, the College Head Prefects took to the stage; these included the Head Boy and Head Girl. Their emotion-filled and appreciative words were met with thunderous applause from both their peers and the audience. The farewells from the prefects of the Primary and Nursery Schools were equally moving, as they each looked back at their different experiences and the relationships built over the years.
Pastor Dr. Gbenga Odubanjo gracefully led the spiritual dimension of the ceremony and raised his voice in prayer for the graduands, appealing for guidance, protection, and success in all their future activities. The event featured colourful performances by the students, both in music and dance routines, which thrilled the guests and provided a happy ending to the formal proceedings.
The Chairman, Mr. Omosowon Idowu Remigious, then stepped onto the stage to deliver an address entitled “Charting a Path to Success for Relevance and Impact.” His speech emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, and strategic planning as essential components for future success, leaving a profound impression on everyone present. As the event came to a close, distinguished students from various subjects and departments received accolades, even for non-academic achievements. These were in confirmation of an all-round education that Pacific Schools tries to instill. The valedictory service of 2024 came to an end with a lively photoshoot session, immortalizing the joy and pride radiating from the graduates, their families, and the dedicated school staff. As the ceremony drew to a graceful close, the Principal of the Sixth Form College extended a heartfelt vote of thanks. The unfolding day was a day of celebrating the past, of reflecting on the present, of an optimistic look toward the future in which the graduates of Pacific Schools were ready to go into the next phase of their lives with courage and confidence.
