We are thrilled to share some exciting news with our esteemed community! Pacific Comprehensive College is proud to announce that one of our outstanding students, Miss Adenike Adepetu, from the SS2 class, has achieved remarkable success in the highly esteemed “I Beg to Differ” debate competition.

Adenike Adepetu recently emerged as the first runner-up in the regional category of the 7th edition of the prestigious competition. Her exceptional eloquence, critical thinking skills, and dedication have rightfully earned her this prestigious position. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Adenike for this remarkable achievement, which reflects her hard work, perseverance, and intellectual prowess.

Organized yearly by Nigeria Info 99.3 FM, the “I Beg to Differ” debate competition is renowned for its rigorous standards and competitive nature. Adenike’s success is a testament to her exceptional talent and commitment to excellence. We commend her for representing Pacific Comprehensive College with such distinction and grace.

Moreover, we are delighted to announce that she has also secured her place in the nationals, which will be held later this year. This remarkable accomplishment underscores her exceptional abilities and promises an exciting journey ahead. We have no doubt that she will continue to shine brightly on the national stage, showcasing her exceptional debating skills and representing our school with pride.

EXPLORING A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES: A recap of my school’s Career Day

My school hosted an exciting career Day, where students had the chance to dive into professions and gain valuable insights from professionals in the field. The event was a tremendous success, providing us with a glimpse into the vast array of career options awaiting us in the future. One of the standout highlights of the day was the presence of legal professionals who shared their expertise and experiences in the field of law. Aspiring lawyers like myself were eager to soak up knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to pursue a career in law.

Throughout the day, we had the chance to attend lectures and presentations about various professions. It was super cool to hear from experts in different fields and get a glimpse into what their jobs are all about. They shared their experiences, insights, and advice, which was super helpful for us young folks trying to figure out our future paths.

One thing that stood out to me was the diversity of careers that were showcased. From the more traditional professions like doctors, lawyers, and engineers to the more creative fields like artists designers, and musicians, there was something for everyone. It was amazing to see how people have turned their passions into successive careers.

Overall, Career Day was an incredible experience. It broadened my horizons, exposed me to a wide range of professions, and left me feeling inspired and motivated. It’s giving me a lot to think about as I start planning for my future.

I’m grateful for the opportunity Pacific Comprehensive College gave me to learn from professionals who are passionate about what they do and excited to see where my own career journey takes me. When I become a successful lawyer, I will gladly give a shout to Pacific Comprehensive College.

Christmas Party 2023 Edition

THE PARTY OF THE YEAR! WHAT IS THE HYPE ALL ABOUT?

We called it the Y2k Extravaganza…

It is truly an honor to write this article on the party of the year hosted by Pacific Schools. It was no doubt one of the best school parties of my life. Many describe it as the party of the year just because it was packed with fun-filled events like never before. There is no denying that we all grew up amidst old-school fashion, hence the reason for assigning a theme to the party. We called it the Y2K extravaganza, as both students and teachers showed up in their various Y2K fashions.

However, what good is dressing up if it is not fun? But this was not the case at all. I am talking of interactive games, fun games, funny games, and even messy games, all with the inclusion of our outstanding teachers. It was indeed a lot of fun. My favorite of all the activities was when we played the Mr. and Mrs. Pacific round of games. It was no surprise that the senior class claimed the crown. Have you ever had to win something of very little value but still be thrilled about it? Well, I have. Imagine hundreds of people, our teachers included, all bidding to win different sessions of ₦500 airtime recharged cards. Crazy right?

The most exciting part came when it was time to bust a move on the dance floor of the Dance! Dance! Dance! Segment. If I may ask, how many of you can still remember those old dance moves such as Azonto, Skelewu, or even our old songs such as Ema dami duro by OBO, if you see me get swag by Wizkid, the Obobo by Olamide, and a host of others? You can trust that, as students, we did an excellent job. Not to mention the amazing performances put together by the students. There is no doubt that the party was a blast and will continue to remain evergreen in the memory of my fellow students.

After the party was over, you can trust Pacific to provide us with merriments, goodies and souvenirs to take home. Although Pacific Schools have been doing amazingly well in the area of academics, there is no denying that they are also equal to the task when it comes to social activities.

The guest speaker urged the graduands to “hold on to the value of relevance”

The 2023 Valedictory Service took place on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at the School Multipurpose Hall. The Primary Six pupils and SS3 students were visibly excited to have completed another milestone in their educational careers. In her address, the principal, Mrs. Ogunsola, encouraged the graduands to learn to persevere in all they do, as all great leaders, famous scientists, and sportspersons received victory through constant perseverance.

She also advised them to imbibe the culture of hard work, discipline, self-belief, and efficiency. The Chairman BOT, Pacific Schools, Mr. Remigious Omosowon, in his speech, advised the graduands to focus on creativity, effective communication, collaboration, and critical thinking, as these are the requisites of 21st-century education. The guest speaker, Mr. Ayeni, urged the graduands to hold on to the value of relevance by discovering their gifts, developing their gifts, and delivering their gifts to the market through service. He encouraged them to be solution providers. The Valedictorian for the Primary School is Ogunsola Sharon, while the Valedictorian for the Secondary School is Odeyiany Naomi. We wish them all success as they climb the educational ladder.

2023 Cultural Day Celebration

Culture can be said to be the beliefs, values, behaviour and material objects that constitute a people’s way of life. As a school, we see every need to educate our students about the diverse ethnic groups and their cultural backgrounds in our dear nation. Culture can be likened to the umbilical cord that connects every man to his root, hence the need to intimate our students about their cultural backgrounds with this remarkable event.

This year’s cultural celebration captures strategic indigenous ethnic groups like the Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, and Edo/Delta cultural groups. To promote global inclusiveness, this year’s celebration transcends our national boundaries to explore Indian culture. The students were painstakingly groomed to showcase the aforementioned cultures in terms of their native attire, language, belief system, and local delicacies. It was a sight to behold as the students independently presented news in their local dialects and showcased their culinary skills as they took us through the process of cooking various tribal delicacies and glamorous fashion parades that portray different tribes within and outside Nigeria.

The celebration was heightened by a good drama presentation that reinforced the need for unity, irrespective of our different ethnicities, to enhance our collective growth as a nation. Also, parents couldn’t help but dance along in succession with the presentation of the Yoruba, Igbo and Edo cultural dances. Of course, the event was not devoid of competitiveness, as the Indian cultural group took centre stage with their groundbreaking performance in their colorful costumes.

The celebration climaxed with a buffet as parents, teachers, students and all guests made their choices from the variety of local delicacies that cut across all tribes and cultures. The photo session and videos are available for your viewing pleasure. It is indeed an event to look forward to.

Biennial Inter-House Sports Competition 2023 Edition.

BIENNIAL INTER-HOUSE SPORTS COMPETITION 2023

The 2023 Inter-house Sports Competition was held on Saturday, 18th February 2023, at the Nigerian Air Force Base Sports Ground, Shasha, Akowonjo, Lagos.

It was an activity-filled day. The air of excitement was eminent as the students were in high spirits and full of expectations.

Sports is an essential part of our school’s co-curricular activities. It caters for the physical well-being of the students. Through the various sporting activities in the school, many of our students have discovered their passion and talent.

It was an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and skills in various sporting activities.

The principal, Mrs. Ogunsola, in her welcome address, highlighted some of the importance of sports for students:

• Sport helps to achieve discipline.

• It fosters respect and friendship.

• It encourages resilience and teamwork.

• It is a strong uniting force that binds people together irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

In every competition, there must be a winner. At the end of the event, Blue house emerged as the overall winner with a total of 13 gold medals, 6 silver medals, and 6 bronze medals; Red House came second with 12 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 3 bronze medals; Yellow house came third with 3 gold medals, 8 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals.

Valedictory Service 2022 At Pacific Schools

Valedictory Service 2022 at Pacific Comprehensive College

The 2022 valedictory service of Pacific Comprehensive College took place on Saturday, 2nd July, 2022. It was a day of joy and celebration as parents, grandparents, uncles, aunties and other relatives gathered at the School Multipurpose Hall to celebrate their children/wards as they bade good bye to secondary education.

The principal, Mrs. Ogunsola, in her address, urged the graduands to believe in themselves and shun examination malpractice as they progress in their educational career, thereby upholding the good image of the school.

The chairman, board of trustees of Pacific Schools, Mr. Remigious Omosowon, in his speech, titled ‘‘Grit Matters More than Talent’’ enumerated the importance of Grit to the graduands, stating that Grit is important because it is a driver of achievement and success, independent of and beyond what talent and intelligence contribute.

He also encouraged the graduands to build their Grit by clarifying their goals, discovering their interests, knowing their purpose and practicing optimistic self-talk (making affirmations)

The guest speaker for the day, Engr. Demola Olorunfemi, Chief Lecturer, Department of Agric. Engineering, Lagos State Polytechnic, in his speech, titled ‘‘Career Choice and Innovation’’, advised the graduands to consider their academic strengths, personal qualities and social skills when choosing a career.

Out of the forty-one students in the class of 2022, the head boy of the School, Adeleke Habeebullah, emerged as the Valedictorian with nine A1s in his final examination.
